The Department of History was established in the year 2023 in self-financed mode with an intake capacity of 30 students. The PG syllabus is semester based and upgraded to Choice Based Credit Systems. Broadly teaching history aims at helping students to understand the present existing social, political religious and economic conditions of the people. The faculties enrich the students at the master’s level with modern and contemporary history as well as ancient Indian history and archaeology. Certainly, the district of Mayurbhanj is culturally rich and the faculties are focused and emphasizes on the historical & cultural heritage of this region. The vision of the history department is to construct the students as the ideal citizens with deep knowledge of history which professes unity in diversity of our country and prepare the student to lead to ensure peace, harmony and prosperity for all. The faculties encourage the students to possess an exploring and critical bent of mind to
analyze and organize facts.
