About

The P.G. Department of Zoology, established in 2004 at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada, is a leading centre for teaching and research in zoological sciences. The department offers postgraduate, M.Phil. (now discontinued), and Ph.D. programmes with a strong emphasis on both classical and applied zoology.
The department is actively engaged in interdisciplinary research areas such as wildlife biology, molecular biology, toxicology, cancer biology, bioprospecting, and tribal health. It has received major funding from agencies like DST, DBT, UGC, MoEF, and BRNS.
With well-equipped laboratories including PCR, Real-time PCR, ELISA, tissue culture facilities, and advanced instrumentation, the department provides a strong platform for research and innovation. Faculty members have contributed significantly through publications, patents, and technology transfer.
Students from the department qualify national-level examinations like NET, GATE, ICMR, and ICAR, and are placed in academia, research institutes, industries, and government sectors.
