PERSONAL INFORMATION

Dr. Priya Ranjan Debata is an academician and researcher in the field of zoology and biomedical sciences with a strong focus on cancer biology. His research primarily investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying tumor development and progression, with particular emphasis on glioma and other brain tumors.
A significant aspect of Dr. Debata’s research explores the role of altered cellular metabolism in cancer. He is interested in understanding how metabolic reprogramming supports tumor growth and survival, and how these metabolic changes interact with oncogenic signaling pathways. His work also examines the role of key signaling molecules involved in regulating tumor cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and invasion.

Another important area of his research involves the study of cell cycle regulatory proteins and their dysregulation in cancer progression. Through the use of molecular and immunohistochemical approaches, Dr. Debata investigates the expression patterns of various tumor markers and signaling proteins in different grades of glioma, including glioblastoma. This research contributes to understanding the molecular events that drive malignant transformation and tumor aggressiveness.

Dr. Debata is also interested in the therapeutic potential of natural compounds in cancer treatment. His studies explore how bioactive molecules derived from natural sources may influence signaling pathways, regulate cell cycle checkpoints, and induce anti-tumor effects. This line of research aims to identify safer and more effective therapeutic strategies for cancer management.
Through his teaching and research activities, Dr. Debata continues to contribute to advancing knowledge in cancer biology, particularly in the areas of tumor metabolism, molecular signaling, and translational approaches for glioma therapy.
