PERSONAL INFORMATION

Professor Pramoda Kumar Satapathy served as the Vice Chancellor (I/C) of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo (MSCB) University, Baripada, Odisha from 19.11.2022 to 14.12.2022 and 05.09.2025 to 08.04.2026, and is a full-time Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the same institution. He completed his +2 Science (1986) and B.Sc. (1989) from BJB College, Bhubaneswar, followed by M.Sc. (1991) and M.Phil. (1993) from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and was awarded his Ph.D. in 1997 from the Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar. He began his teaching career as a Lecturer in Chemistry at Nayagarh Autonomous College, where he served from 31 March 1995 to 13 March 2007, before joining MSCB University (formerly North Orissa University) as Reader in Chemistry in 14.03.2007. His area of specialization is Inorganic Chemistry, with research interests spanning adsorption and catalysis, photocatalytic activity using graphene-supported materials, mixed oxide nanocomposites, and water analysis. He has published 46 research papers in reputed national and international journals and contributed 4 book chapters in edited volumes. He has received research funding from UGC , DAE-BRNS & MSCB University and has been associated with DST-FIST Programme of P.G.Department of Chemistry as Coordinator during 2019-2024. As a research supervisor, he has guided more than 80 M.Sc. students, 23 M.Phil. scholars, and 9 Ph.D. scholars. He is the recipient of several honors, including the National Scholarship (1984–1989), INSA Visiting Fellowship (2009–2010), and Pathani Samant Prativa Samman (2013). He has delivered invited talks and chaired technical sessions at various national and international conferences and serves as a reviewer for reputed journals such as RSC Advances, Desalination and Water Treatment, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, and Environmental Technology. He is a life member of professional bodies, including the Orissa Chemical Society, Society of Materials Chemistry, and the Catalysis Society of India, and served as Vice President of the Orissa Chemical Society in 2011 and 2024. In addition to his academic and research contributions, he has held several key administrative positions at MSCB University, including Chairman of the P.G. Council, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Director of IQAC and R&D, Head of the Department, Warden of Hostels, NSS Coordinator, and Secretary of the Sports Council, reflecting a distinguished career in teaching, research, and institutional leadership.
