PERSONAL INFORMATION

Currently serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Tribal Studies at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo University, Baripada, Odisha, since 6 July 2022, where he also held the responsibilities of Head of the Department, Professor-in-Charge of the Museum and Archives, and Development Officer. Academically trained in Anthropology with M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., and a P.G. Diploma in Heritage Management and Museology, he has also qualified UGC-NET. His doctoral research on the Neolithic and Post-Neolithic cultures of Northern Odisha was completed under Prof. Kishor K. Basa with financial assistance from the Royal Anthropological Institute, London. Beginning his professional career as Senior Research Fellow at the Anthropological Survey of India (1999–2002), he documented Ho mortuary practices, later published as a monograph. He subsequently worked with the National Mission for Manuscripts at the Orissa State Museum (2003–2005), conducting manuscript surveys and awareness programmers across Odisha, followed by his tenure as Research Associate at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal (2005–2008), where he undertook UNESCO-supported fieldwork on the Daroi Gond tribe around the Bhimbetka World Heritage Site. From 2008 to 2013, he served as Assistant Professor at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, contributing significantly to teaching, museum and laboratory development, journal founding (Mekal Insights), and prehistoric site discoveries in Baiga areas. He then worked internationally as Assistant Professor and later Head/Coordinator in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the College of Business and Social Sciences, Eritrea (2014–2022), focusing on curriculum reform and institutional development. With over 14 years of teaching experience across India and abroad, he has authored/edited seven books, published around 102 research papers, edited four scholarly journals, and presented papers in 29 academic forums. His research interests include prehistoric archaeology, ethnoarchaeology, tribal mortuary practices, museum anthropology, indigenous knowledge systems, and intangible cultural heritage. He has actively engaged in cultural outreach, manuscript preservation awareness, tribal heritage documentation, and museum development initiatives, and has gained international exposure through extended academic service and research activities in Eritrea and neighboring regions.
