{"id":932,"date":"2025-09-24T12:19:01","date_gmt":"2025-09-24T12:19:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.dzinepixel.com\/Paradipport_wp\/?post_type=all_news&#038;p=932"},"modified":"2026-05-14T17:49:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T12:19:14","slug":"paradip-port-authority-hosts-roadshow-paving-the-way-for-india-maritime-week-imw-2025","status":"publish","type":"all_news","link":"https:\/\/staging.dzinepixel.com\/Paradipport_wp\/all_news\/paradip-port-authority-hosts-roadshow-paving-the-way-for-india-maritime-week-imw-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Paradip Port Authority hosts Roadshow paving the way for India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Theme: \u201cNavigating the shift of Indian Maritime Sector: From Volume to Vision\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bhubaneswar, 24th September 2025:<\/p>\n<p>The Paradip Port Authority under the aegis of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), today successfully conducted a Roadshow in Bhubaneswar on the theme \u201cNavigating the shift of Indian Maritime sector: From Volume to Vision.\u201d The event forms a key part of a series of nationwide outreach programs on preliminary event for India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The roadshow was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon\u2019ble Minister, Industries, Skill Development &amp; Technical Education, Govt of Odisha; Dr. Bibhu Prasad Tarai, Hon\u2019ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha); Shri Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Department, Govt of Odisha &amp; Chairman IPICOL; and Smt Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing &amp; Urban Development and Commerce &amp; Transport, Govt of Odisha, alongside industry leaders, government officials, and stakeholders from across the maritime value chain.<\/p>\n<p>Delivering the welcome address, the Chairman of Paradip Port, Shri P.L. Haranadh highlighted global maritime trends of steady trade growth, sustainability, and digital transformation, while underlining India\u2019s maritime vision 2047. He also highlighted that Indian Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai to be held between 27<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0to 31<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0October 20205, will be a five-day global forum joined by 100+ maritime nations, 200 international speakers, 500 exhibitors, and one lakhs delegates, designed for leaders to converge, converse, coordinate, and co-create solutions. Discussions will span port modernization, capacity augmentation, green shipping and climate-conscious sailing, shipbuilding, insurance &amp; finance, and maritime security, with full participation from India\u2019s maritime states\u2014including Odisha. The Ministry plans MoUs exceeding \u20b910 lakh crores, of which Paradip Port expects more than one lakh crores, nearly one-tenth of the target itself. He also stressed the recent signing of MoUs at the PM\u2019s event at Bhavnagar, Gujarat last week with Govt of Odisha for the development of Bahuda Major Port at \u20b921,500 crore, a shipbuilding hub at Mahanadi Mouth at \u20b924,700 crore, and a cruise terminal at Puri, alongside MoPSW\u2019s initiatives of One nation One Port process document to drive efficiency and EoDB of Indian Ports.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the gathering, Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing &amp; Urban Development and Commerce &amp; Transport, Government of Odisha,\u00a0outlined the State\u2019s vision for building a highly competitive and inclusive maritime sector anchored in\u00a0Vision Odisha 2036 and 2047. She emphasized the roadmap to\u00a0expand port capacity from the current 80 MTPA to 500 MTPA by 2047\u00a0through modernization, new infrastructure, and the proposed\u00a0Odisha Maritime Board. Highlighting that\u00a0port-led development is central to realizing the Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister\u2019s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, she called for greater private participation, resilient infrastructure, and innovation. Importantly, she underlined the need to\u00a0increase women\u2019s participation in the maritime sector, making growth not only sustainable but inclusive.<\/p>\n<p>In his address, Shri Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Department, Government of Odisha &amp; Chairman, IPICOL,\u00a0highlighted the deep synergy between Odisha\u2019s industrial growth and the maritime sector, noting that each drives the other\u2019s expansion. He underlined that Odisha\u2019s economy, growing at\u00a08\u20139% and outpacing the national average, must be anchored in a\u00a0robust global value chain\u00a0to sustain momentum. He further informed that\u00a0investors have already lined up for shipbuilding and ship repair facilities, following the signing of recent MoUs with Paradip Port Authority.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bibhu Prasad Tarai, Hon\u2019ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha),\u00a0in his address, appreciated the\u00a0joint initiatives of the Government of Odisha and the Government of India\u00a0to strengthen the port and maritime sector in the State. He highlighted that such collaborative efforts are paving the way for Odisha to emerge as a key maritime hub.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Guest Address:\u00a0Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon\u2019ble Minister of Industries, Skill Development &amp; Technical Education, Government of Odisha, delivered the keynote address, stressing Odisha\u2019s readiness to become India\u2019s eastern maritime gateway, Purvodaya and a driver of sustainable industrial growth. He stressed that Odisha\u2019s maritime growth agenda is aligned with Viksit Bharat 2047 and in years to come he positioned India in top-five shipbuilding status and stronger ship-recycling, while highlighting blue-economy opportunities and inclusive skilling , including women\u2019s participation. He reiterated that the govt of Odisha is all set to support the development of Bahuda Port and Kendrapada\u2019s Ship Building and ship repair initiatives by Paradip Port\u2014advancing the State\u2019s \u201cViksit Odisha by 2036\u201d vision.<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Deputy Chairman (In-Charge), Shri A.K. Sahoo. The programme was followed by two thematic panel discussions on cargo efficiency and growth, and on digital pathways for smart ports through IT &amp; E-Governance. The event was supported by Grant Thornton as knowledge partner and Assocham as industry partner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About India Maritime Week 2025:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>India Maritime Week is the Ministry\u2019s flagship event, bringing together national and international policymakers, investors, and thought leaders to discuss and shape the future of Indian ports and logistics. The 2025 edition will spotlight India\u2019s journey towards maritime excellence through people, infrastructure, and a future-ready vision.
