Paradip Port Authority Celebrates 40th Annual Flower Show.

Paradip, Odisha: Paradip Port Authority (PPA) celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of its 40th Annual Flower Show, transforming the Officers’ Club into a vibrant display of floral excellence and environmental commitment. The landmark event was inaugurated by Shri P. L. Haranadh, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, in the presence of Shri T. Venu Gopal, Deputy Chairman, Shri Himansu Sekhar Rout, Chief Engineer, Paradip Port Authority, along with HoDs and other senior officials of the Port.
The annual flower show reflects PPA’s sustained efforts to integrate industrial growth with environmental stewardship and its vision of developing Paradip as one of India’s leading Green Ports.
This year’s exhibition recorded a notable increase in participation, with 150 entries compared to 126 in the previous year, highlighting growing enthusiasm among employees and the local community. The exhibition featured an impressive range of flowers, ornamental plants, bonsai, and vegetables across 48 competition categories. Port employees, township residents, and local horticulture enthusiasts actively participated, creating an engaging and colorful experience for visitors. A large number of residents and members of the public visited the show, appreciating the creativity and learning about sustainable gardening practices.
As part of the celebrations, the Chairman and senior officials visited 24 common gardens developed across the Port Township. These gardens reflect Paradip Port Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance green spaces and improve the quality of life for township residents. The well-maintained gardens showcase a variety of seasonal plants and landscaping initiatives undertaken by the Port.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Shri P. L. Haranadh highlighted the Port’s extensive greening initiatives. He stated that nearly five lakh trees have been planted over the past four years along central medians, carriageways, and township areas. He further announced that Paradip Port Authority aims to undertake a massive plantation drive of one million trees by June–July this year, a landmark achievement that would make Paradip Port the first port in India to attain such extensive green coverage. He added that the green belt developed from Sandhakud to Hanuman Temple not only enhances the region’s visual appeal but also serves as a natural barrier against cyclones, strengthening environmental resilience and community safety.
The celebrations concluded with an evening prize distribution ceremony held at the Officers’ Club, where Shri P. L. Haranadh and Shri T. Venu Gopal presented awards to winners across various categories. The Port leadership expressed sincere appreciation to the Civil Engineering Department and the Horticulture team, under the guidance of Chief Engineer Shri Himansu Sekhar Rout, for their dedicated efforts in successfully organizing the event and maintaining the Port’s extensive green infrastructure.
The 40th Annual Flower Show stands as a reflection of Paradip Port Authority’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability, community participation, and its continued journey towards a greener future.
